John Coates
Direct Operations Manager
John was born in Manchester and joined Ecclesiastical in January 1981 as an inspector and surveyor. Other roles have included assistant regional manager and area manager in Birmingham.
John relocated to Gloucester to set up a new venture for the company, selling home, travel, car and wedding insurance direct to customers in 1993. Since then John has remained in Gloucester, and has since moved on to manage the division that also includes church and charity business.
John is qualified as a Chartered Insurer and has an NVQ in Customer Service. He has also completed a qualification to demonstrate competency in computer skills.
“I believe I have the best job in the company. It gives me total satisfaction making a difference helping the Church of England and its parishes/people.
“Ecclesiastical is a fine place to work. I work with some fantastic people who are a pleasure to lead and manage.”
Outside of work John enjoys water sports and keeping fit. Other hobbies include watching all types of sport such as football, rugby and tennis.
John is married and lives in Worcestershire with his two children, dog and two cats.
