rewards and support
The work and life balance
We offer competitive salaries that we benchmark against national companies every year. And we also offer a very competitive pension plan that’s available to all employees aged over 18.
But we know that there’s more to life than that. We think that people are at their best when the balance between their work and home life is right. Sometimes, this can be challenge for all of us, so we’ll support you throughout your career – from flexible working and career breaks, through to bike to work schemes and payroll giving.
Listening to our people
It’s not just our customers that we want to keep satisfied. We work hard to cultivate an open culture, and to listen and act on the ideas of the people who work here. Every year we carry out an an employee engagement survey, and in October 2008, 87% of our employees took part.
Here are a few highlights of the ways that we help protect our people and their families.
Pension - Permanent employees aged 18 or over are offered a very competitive Group Pension Plan (GPP). You choose to make a contribution of 3%, 4% or 5% of your salary and we add to it with contributions of 8%, 10% or 12%.
Holidays - Our holiday entitlements are very competitive with other companies in our industry. Many of our people also get an increased holiday entitlement to reflect the nature and level of their role.
Medical insurance - We offer free private medical insurance to everyone in a full-time job. Part-time employees are offered insurance for a pro-rata premium.
Performance bonuses - We run a range of bonus schemes based on individual performance, and on the performance of the company as a whole.
Take-a-Break scheme - Our Take-a-Break policy gives the opportunity to take a sabbatical or career break for up to three months to go travelling or take part in voluntary work.
Health roadshows - At the health roadshows, occupational health nurses offer free health and lifestyle advice, and basic tests such as lung function, blood pressure and body mass index.
Bike to work scheme - This scheme gives our employees the chance to buy a bicycle and accessories at a discounted price and pay the costs direct from their salary.
Lunch - Why go to work on an empty stomach? Everyone working at our head office in Gloucester can choose to eat in our subsidised restaurant providing cooked meals and light snacks. In most cases, if you’re working at other locations, you’ll receive a lunch allowance.
