Medieval Living Village, Kenilworth Castle

Ecclesiatsical staff member Susan Blackett aided a family to build the tythe barn at Kenilworth Castle

Venue: Kenilworth Castle, Warwickshire

Ecclesiastical sponsored the Medieval Living Village at Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire.  The village was built especially for this event and was set within the grounds of the castle.  Visitors had the opportunity to walk around, meet villagers and find out more about their lives in medieval times.  There was even a tavern where adults could relax over a draught of ale or cider.

As well as sponsoring the whole event, Ecclesiastical created Little Kenilworth.  This was a collection of models of medieval buildings, including a smithy, farmhouse, windmill and church.  Children and their parents could build them together and learn about how the buildings were made, the materials they were made from and their purpose.  This was a great activity and proved very popular.  Children and adults of all ages were keen to build and many challenged themselves with trying to build the entire village.
