clergy collect bursaries at St Paul's

2006’s Ecclesiastical Insurance bursary award winners collect their prizes at St Paul’s

Date: 27 March 2006

40 members of the clergy were presented with bursary awards from Ecclesiastical Insurance on Wednesday 11 January.

The awards were presented at a ceremony held at St Paul’s Cathedral Chapter House by the deputy chairman of Ecclesiastical Insurance, Mr Bill Yates.

The awards are being used to support periods of study, sabbatical, retreat and research in the UK and abroad. For example, the Reverend Paul Berry from Manchester diocese is using his award to study the connections between film and theology; the Reverend Elizabeth Cowley from Peterborough diocese will study the Anglican Church in Korea; and the Reverend Paul Hinkley from Chelmsford diocese will complete a study project focussing on the development of lay readers.

The Ministry Bursary Awards were established in 1987, the year of Ecclesiastical’s centenary and more than 600 clergy have received awards to date.
