In 2007 staff gave almost £18,000 through payroll giving scheme

Listening to staff
838 staff took part in our annual staff satisfaction survey in October 2007. That‘s an 86% response rate, 2% up on 2006. 72% of the externally benchmarked questions were equal to or higher than the benchmarks
Ansvar Insurance in Australia held employee focus groups and the findings contributed to the 2008 business planning process.
Work/life balance
we introduced a Take a Break policy to enable staff to take sabbaticals or career breaks for up to three months to go travelling or take part in voluntary work
our UK, Australian and Canadian businesses all allow staff to take a day off work to volunteer in the community for one of our chosen charities
we operate a flexible working hours policy, a home working policy and have a childcare voucher scheme enabling staff to make savings of up to £10,000 in childcare provision.
Developing staff

we are running a leadership development programme with Ashridge Management College for approximately 100 of our business leaders
in 2007 we held 12 Making Change Happen workshops for team leaders to help them build the skills needed to manage change within Ecclesiastical.
launched an online learning resource with Ashridge Management College for all staff containing a host of tools for personal development
Promoting and supporting good employee health
over 250 people took part in health roadshows held in Gloucester and four regional locations in 2007. At the roadshows occupational health nurses offer free health and lifestyle advice and staff can have basic tests such as Lung function, Blood pressure and Body mass index.
45 people joined our Bike to Work Scheme in 2007 in association with Halfords. This enables staff to buy a bicycle and accessories at a discounted price and pay the costs direct from their salary. The scheme promotes a healthy workforce and has a positive effect on the environment. The scheme is being run again in 2008.
Payroll giving
won the award for Best Employer and Charity Promotion in the National Payroll Giving Awards. Ecclesiastical was also highly commended in the Best Relaunch of an Existing Scheme category.
achieved the payroll giving quality mark silver award for commitment to good causes and the local community. A silver award is achieved when 5% of staff regularly donate to charity through a payroll giving scheme. In 2007 staff gave almost £18,000 through payroll giving with the company matching 50% of donations up to an agreed limit
