Clergy Legal Protection Policy

This is a new insurance cover provides clergy with cover against legal costs in an employment dispute. This policy covers legal expenses protection for proceedings under the Clergy Discipline Measure 2003*.

What is covered?

Up to £100,000 to cover costs and expenses for:

  • representing clergy at a hearing before a disciplinary tribunal or the Vicar General’s Court

  • representing clergy in a dispute concerning your terms and conditions of service

Important

This policy has been specifically designed to take into consideration changes in Clergy Terms of Service Legislation and is not covered by our Parishguard policy.  Clergy should however, check before purchasing this policy whether they have equivalent cover under any other legal expenses insurance policy.

What does it cost?

The premium is £25 per year (Inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax). Please note Terms and conditions apply.

* Clergy who hold Common Tenure under the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service) Measure 2009, are covered for legal expenses cover in relation to any disputes, inquiries or grievances that arise.
