Keeping us informed...

  • We’ve sent one of our paintings to be cleaned. Should we let you know?

    Church FAQs
Yes please. We automatically provide cover for items like paintings that are being cleaned or restored, as long as they are worth no more than 10% of the contents insured. Please let us know if an item is worth more than this. Your communion plate is also covered for up to £25,000, which applies anywhere in the British Isles. So if you lend the communion plate to the local school, for example, it will still be covered.
  • Should we tell you if we are having work done at the church?

    Church FAQs
Yes, please let us know if you’re having work done as it might mean you need to take out extra insurance. You’ll need to carry out a risk assessment before the work, and we might ask you to provide us with written details of the work you’re hoping to have done.
  • We have a chairlift at the church. Do we need to tell you?

    Church FAQs
Yes. If you use a lifting device you need to arrange for a professional to inspect it every six months if it’s used to move people, or every 12 months if it’s used for other things. An engineering surveyor will visit your church, inspect the device and then issue a report. You’re legally obliged to have an inspection, even if you already have a maintenance contract for the lift.
  • Our church has been modified recently. Should we tell you about it?

    Church FAQs
You must let us know about any significant changes to your church or buildings as we may need to adjust the amount of insurance cover. It’s vital that there is always enough cover in place to pay for the full rebuild of the property. Please also let us know if a church or church hall is about to close or its function is about to change.
