Graduate Business Leader scheme

Looking for our future leaders

Demanding, challenging and rewarding are just some of the few things people may say about the Graduate Business Leader Programme.

This scheme is unique for the variety of challenges and opportunities it has to offer as well as for its flexibility which allows our graduates to focus on their key development areas and make the most of the opportunities as they come along.  Furthermore it will give you a chance to become an expert in our five niches and to work on some very special and famous risks we insure, such as St Paul’s Cathedral.

Knowledge of all the core areas of the business together with real leadership and project management experience will provide you with the perfect foundation to kick start your career.

You will need to be able to work in a fast paced environment and you will be expected to be enthusiastic, motivated and keen to learn.

Challenging and supporting you

This scheme offers the support you need to be able to excel and develop your full potential. You will be assigned a mentor who is an experienced senior manager ready to support your way around the business. Your mentor will advise you on your career, help you get wider business exposure and make sure you get the most from your training.

You will also be assigned a ‘buddy’, a more experienced graduate on the scheme, who will also be able to give you valuable, yet less formal, advice and support whenever needed.

In addition to the on-the-job training and coaching you will receive, you will also benefit from the support and challenges of a range of off-job workshops and development programmes.  Plus we offer you an enhanced study package, which includes 25 days of study leave, to make sure you gain your Chartered Insurance Institute professional qualifications as quickly as possible.

After the scheme

Upon completion of the scheme, it is totally up to you which career direction you take. However, whichever path you choose, our expectation is that you will become one of our senior leaders of the future.  Our graduates have gone into a variety of roles, such as operational manager, business development manager and geographical information system project manager, just to mention a few.
