public liability
Many wedding venues insist that you have your own public liability insurance.
If your venue hasn’t mentioned it, you should check the terms of your contract with them as they may require you to organise your own public liability insurance.
What is public liability wedding insurance?
Public liability cover gives you insurance against claims made against you by third parties if they are injured during your wedding, or if their property is damaged, and there has been some sort of negligence by you or one of your guests.
The kind of events included are:
If one of your guests negligently damages an expensive painting at your venue
If one of your guests negligently spills a hot cup of coffee over another guest scalding them.
How much public liability cover to take out
Public liability claims can be for any amount, so we think it’s wise to insure for as much as you think you’ll need.
We offer two levels of cover because many venues specify the amount you must have. With Ecclesiastical wedding insurance, you can choose either £2 million or £5 million of public liability cover.
Public liability in the USA and Canada
You can choose public liability cover for the USA and Canada at an additional premium that reflects the relatively higher level of public liability claims in those countries.
