David’s health and safety background started with the Training and Enterprise Council (TEC) movement, which would eventually become the Learning and Skills Councils (LSC’s).
David’s health and safety background started with the Training and Enterprise Council (TEC) movement, which would eventually become the Learning and Skills Councils (LSC’s). His responsibilities centred around the safety of young people and adults on government funded training programmes and initiatives. He was part of the working group which developed a national code of practice for health and safety standards across government funded training programmes.
Having completed the Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management at Nottingham Trent University, he decided that the time was right for a new challenge. So in 2002, he set up as a freelance Health and Safety Consultant.
He became increasingly involved in the charities, community and voluntary sector. David developed a genuine admiration for those who were trying to make a difference, but was also concerned that their own safety was frequently neglected. He was attracted to Ecclesiastical Risk Services, because of its ethical outlook and a chance to continue working with these decent people.
David is a chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
