Hospital staff battling the coronavirus outbreak have had their lives made just a little easier by a Closer to You donation from Middleton Insurance Services and Ecclesiastical Insurance.
Middleton, based on the West Sussex coast near Bognor Regis, is supporting Love Your Hospital, the dedicated charity of Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which raises vital funds for St Richard’s, Worthing and Southlands Hospitals, and is working harder than ever in the current challenging times.
David Clayton-Evans, Interim Head of Charity at Love Your Hospital, said, ‘We support hospital projects that fall outside of core Government funding and go above and beyond for patients, visitors and staff by providing state-of-the-art medical equipment, upgrading on-site facilities and investing in staff development.
‘COVID-19 is something we haven’t experienced before, our teams are doing amazing things to support really great patient care, and we’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of our local community. Middleton Insurance is a locally-based company, and we’re incredibly grateful for the donation from them and Ecclesiastical.
'The money will be used to help create hundreds of comfort packs containing necessities such as shower gel and toothpaste, but also some treats like iced coffee and chocolate bars. The packs are for all staff – from porters, to laundry workers, to radiologists, to doctors and nurses – who are working very long hour or staying in emergency accommodation away from their loved ones.’
Allen Porter, Managing Director of Middleton Insurance Services, said, ‘We’re an insurance broker primarily based on the south coast, and when we learnt that the NHS was preparing for the pandemic we thought that the local hospital trust could make good use of a charitable donation. All our staff know a family member, friend, neighbour or client that works within our local hospitals and, along with the rest of the UK, we wanted to thank everyone. In the middle of this pandemic, all of us at Middleton Insurance Services Ltd hope this goes a little way to show our gratitude.’
