Key accountabilities

  • Own and proactively develop commercially successful and productive relationships with large FD firms and where appropriate, other intermediaries.  
  • Acting within Ecclesiastical risk appetite: target, win and retain business in our core market sectors, delivering profitable growth in line with plan through:
  • Strategic account planning
  • Senior stakeholder management (internal and external)
  • Maintaining a high market profile with key influencers
  • Monitoring performance trends of Funeral Director panel and proposing counter strategies
  • Maintaining an extensive knowledge of competitor benefits and weaknesses.
  • Work with relationship managers within target areas to develop opportunities leading where appropriate
  • Adhering and supporting our National FD development strategy
  • Prospecting, including utilising and growing CRM pipeline
  • Planning and delivering agreed activity levels, ensuring CRM accurately reflects planned and actual activity
  • Delivering a high quality sales process following best practice guidelines
  • Driving profitable new business growth
  • Driving performance and profitability of Funeral Director panel
  • Meeting retention and new business targets
  • Providing a professional and effective presence at key industry and related sector events.
  • Identifying opportunities for and contribute to implementation of tactical marketing campaigns for funeral directing firms.
  • Manage an agreed panel of Funeral Directors across the territory. 
  • Develop and manage relationships between EPSL and third party partners delivering growth and breadth of business channels   
  • Work proactively with colleagues in marketing, service and broader group functions to deliver exceptional service to our FD’s and other partners

Key performance indicators

  • Utilisation of CRM system to plan, monitor and deliver agreed activity levels.
  • Deliver and exceed key financial metrics growth and profitability of FD plans
  • Growth of new profitable FD partner relationships 
  • Delivery of retention targets
  • NPS surveys, Ecclesiastical surveys and direct feedback from FD business
  • Activity and effective presence at trade body key sector events 

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Extensive experience within later life planning market
  • Strong track record in a financial services sales role (minimum 5 years) within the UK market 
  • Highly credible and commercially focussed with a strong reputation for delivery and service.
  • Proven ability to build productive relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent communication, negotiation & presentation skills
  • Third level or professional sales qualification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of tactical marketing campaigns and ability to identify such opportunities
