About the role

A fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to lead, shape, guide and coach a driven Data & Analytics development team and to provide key input as we strive for continued excellence in evolving our Data strategy. Right now we are an experienced team with SQL Server and have a rich data platform.
 
This role comes at an exciting time as we have a large policy system transformation project underway and a new office space which encourages collaborative working throughout the business.

Key accountabilities

  • Responsible for the development of data warehouse and business intelligence solutions to an agreed programme of work to integrate the agreed General Insurance system
  • Identify and develop relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure a collaborative productive end result
  • Understand and interpret business and architecture requirements to lead the design and develop technical solutions to enable data to be visualisation or selection ready
  • Manage the planning and prioritisation of individual and team deliverables; assist with wider scheduling of deliverables to ensure that all elements of end-to-end delivery are aligned
  • Work with project teams to ensure that deadlines, risks and dependencies are identified so projects are delivered right first time within agreed cost, time and quality parameters
  • Develop solutions compliant with approved standards and development processes; bring together supplier and internal standards to define effective working practices throughout a phased implementation plan
  • Deploy solutions compliant with change control processes 
  • Lead continuous improvement and benefits realisation reviews to drive up the quality of data development
  • Provide handover documentation and skills transfer to other areas as required
  • Ensure correct use of software tools which support the development process.
  • Work with end users and product owners to translate requirements into services whether, BI, data or visualisation.
  • Help and Oversee the designing and build of Front End BI Solutions
  • Work with the wider team to perform source system analysis, identification of key data issues, data profiling and development
 

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential:
  • Highly experienced in developing database solutions, extract, transform and load routines using SQL Server 2012 or later and  SSIS
  • Proven experience of developing and maintaining productive business relationships
  • Demonstrable experience of delivery in collaboration with business areas ensuring shared business objectives are met
  • A willingness to travel both in the UK and at Sapiens offices where required
  • A desire to learn and promote new technology 
  • Dimensional and Relational Design Experience for enterprise scale application databases
  • Experience of Business Intelligence tools and their practical application (Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, QlikView or similar)
  • Experience of development and change control environments; waterfall & agile
  • Experience of working in a pressured and complex environment requiring prioritisation of workloads and negotiation of delivery timescales; solution driven
  • A strong team leader who can enthuse teams to meet and exceed expectations on technical projects in a complex change environment
  • Demonstrable ability to acquire understanding of new technologies and translate requirements to action
  • Great team player with experience of working across multiple workstreams; pro-active and self-starter with ability to manage own workload
  • Confident and influential communicator at all levels: good verbal, written, and presentation skills; proactively build successful internal and external relationships
  • Customer focused and excellent understanding of the value of data and what it means to be data-driven
  • Excellent working knowledge of data protection legislation and its practical application
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, or suitable alternative experience

  • Experience of Sapiens IDIT and RI
  • Azure, AWS or GCP 
  • Certified scrum master
  • Snowflake or other cloud based databases
