About the role

As part of the larger transformational project to replace our core General Insurance system. We are looking for candidates to join our Business Solutions BAU development team who are interested in technology, learning new skills, practices and processes on a variety of projects in order to deliver business value and benefit.
As a Document Developer you will guide, mentor and train other developers to apply changes to our General Insurance Systems (specifically Documaker) in order to meet business priorities and legislative changes to documents. You will work alongside your Systems Development Team Leader, liaise with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Business Stakeholders and Business users on larger more complex changes.

  • Delivering exceptional customer service

  • Mentor and guide developers with less experience of the required technologies, peers reviews and technical review 
  • Drives initiatives forward to completion with little guidance or prompting
  • Setting of design and development standards
  • Following change control processes 
  • Naturally works in a team and shares ideas also provide walkthrough’s of changes, handover documentation and skills transfer to others  
  • Working in collaboration with the systems development and system test teams to ensure successful completion and implementation of changes 
  • Able to pick up problems in new areas and identify solutions
  • Able to take presentational lead at meetings 
  • Supporting the business to provide 3rd line support for our BAU systems 
  • A desire to learn new skills with a willingness to be flexible in learning methods, being adaptable to change
  • Also the desire and willingness to upskill in order to develop, support and maintain our new future packaged solution suite including:
         - Product configuration
         - Workflow set up and monitoring
         - Rules definition
         - Customisation of screen behaviour 
         - Financial data set-up
         - Document creation

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Vast knowledge of complete development lifecycle 
  • Able to demonstrate deep technical knowledge in product development and documentation production
  • Ability to communicate confidently and influentially at all levels
  • Experience in Systems Architecture and Design 
  • Proven experience of taking ownership of work and applying creative problem resolutions that are both timely and efficient
  • Experienced in providing IT 3rd level application support
  • Strong leadership qualities along with the ability to build and maintain productive operational relationships
  • A willingness to demonstrate continuous improvement by using existing skills/talents as well as developing new skills 
  • The ability to be resourceful, self-sufficient and to work independently as well as in an established team
