Insurance Software Engineer (1906)

About the role

The role holder will manage configuration changes to the new system in order to meet business requirements, including workflow, data, product and document changes and act as a liaison with our Supplier on more complex changes.

Key accountabilities:

  • Working with  the wider IT/Business Solutions team to produce systems configurations/specifications and validate designs produced by our Supplier
  • Perform set-up and parameterization of the solution suite to include but not limited to:
  • Insurane product configuration
  • Workflow set up and monitoring
  • Rules definition
  • Customisation of screen behaviour 
  • Financial data set-up
  • Document creation
  • Supporting the business to provide 3rd line support for developed and packaged systems including configuration
  • Working in collaboration with the supplier’s development team to act as a constant between both parties
  • Manage the knowledge transfer to Ecclesiastical ensuring knowledge is cascaded and retained following implementation
  • Provide handover documentation, skills transfer to other areas as required e.g. training and application support
  • To use the provided software tools to facilitate the execution of the unit and system testing, the comparison of actual outcomes to predicted outcomes, the setting up of test preconditions, and other test control and test reporting functions

  • Previous experience in a system configuration role or relevant IT based degree
  • A keen eye for detail, ensuring that specifications can be accurately interpreted to produce working software
  • A desire to learn and promote new technology 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A clear appreciation of the need for exceptional standards of customer experience and evidence of a strong commitment to delivering improved standards
  • Ability to work independently
  • The ability to build and manage co-operative and productive operational relationships
  • Awareness of complete development lifecycles – particularly waterfall and agile
  • Interest in a development area (SQL/Java) and across development generally
  • Knowledge of interrogating relational databases using SQL statements
  • Willingness to travel (if required occasionally
