Insurance Systems Configurator (1769)

About the role

The role holder will manage configuration changes to the system to meet business requirements, including workflow, data, product and document changes and will act as a liaison with our Supplier on more complex changes (predominately Java focussed).

Key accountabilities

  • Working with  the wider IT/Business Solutions team to produce systems configurations/specifications and validate designs produced by our Supplier
  • Perform set-up and parameterization of the solution suite to include but not limited to:
    • Insurance product configuration
    • Workflow set up and monitoring
    • Rules definition
    • Customisation of screen behaviour 
    • Financial data set-up
    • Document creation
  • Supporting the business to provide 3rd line support for developed and packaged systems including configuration
  • Working in collaboration with the supplier’s development team to act as a constant between both parties
  • Manage the knowledge transfer to Ecclesiastical ensuring knowledge is cascaded and retained following implementation
  • Provide handover documentation, skills transfer to other areas as required e.g. training and application support
  • To use the provided software tools to facilitate the execution of the unit and system testing, the comparison of actual outcomes to predicted outcomes, the setting up of test preconditions, and other test control and test reporting functions

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Good working knowledge of complete development lifecycles – particularly waterfall and agile
  • Able to demonstrate technical knowledge in a development area (Java preferred) as well as a breadth of knowledge across development generally
  • A keen eye for detail, ensuring that specifications can be accurately interpreted to produce working software
  • Good working knowledge of interrogating relational databases using SQL statements
  • A willingness to travel when required, including internationally 
  • Experience of managing stakeholders at all levels both business and technology focussed
  • A desire to learn and promote new technology 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A clear appreciation of the need for exceptional standards of customer experience and evidence of a strong commitment to delivering improved standards
