Risk Advisor

  • Location: Gloucester
  • Duration: Permanent
  • Working hours: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide support to nominated business areas in the identification and assessment of their key operational risks and including providing advice and guidance on the mitigation, control and monitoring of the risks
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting identifying key issues relevant business areas and relevant Risk/Management Committees
  • Ensure operational loss events and near misses are captured and reported to Group Risk
  • Support, challenge and coach business representatives to enable them to manage risks effectively
  • Assist in the identification and preparation of operational risk scenarios involving relevant business experts
  • Undertake risk assessments for specific projects/business initiatives
  • Ensure the effective embedding of the risk management framework across the company
  • Assist the team in providing oversight of operational risks (including People, IT, processes, suppliers and data protection) across the Group, establishing FCA/PRA compliant standards and policies as required. 
  • Provide support to the Risk Consultants on a variety of risk management activities

  • Feedback from Chief Risk Officer and Risk Consultants
  • Feedback from Business Unit contacts
  • All key issues identified to relevant risk committees and actioned within defined SLA’s

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong analytical skills, proficient in analysing the underlying issues in complex problems
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills 
  • Demonstrates sound and commercial judgement and ability to design  practical and proportionate solutions
  • Credible, with proven ability to build effective relationships and to influence key stakeholders, including business managers and staff 
  • Previous experience in business operations or operational risk roles
  • Some risk management knowledge; awareness of Solvency II and best practice preferred but not essential
