Charity and Community Insurance

Supporting your charity as your needs grow

Currently insuring over 45,000 charities and being owned by a registered charity we understand what it means to work in your sector.

Ecclesiastical has been helping to protect not-for-profit organisations for over 130 years and we are committed to ensuring our expertise helps prepare the sector for the future. We work closely with key organisations and bodies to ensure we are up to date with the challenges facing the sector and to enable us to provide the best support. Our goal is to be the most trusted and ethical specialist financial services group. We have given £67m to charity over the past four years and delivered hundreds of hours in volunteer time. We are also the UK's top insurance company for charitable giving ranking Ecclesiastical 4th in The Guide to UK Company Giving1.

Our charity cover is designed specifically for the sector to give you what you really need, protecting volunteers as well as staff and including bespoke cover options such as reputational risk and cyber.

Tailored cover can include:

  • Trustee and Management liability
  • Business interruption including for donations and grants
  • Public and employers liability
  • Reputational risk including Public Relations (PR) crisis management, libel and slander and death of a patron
  • Legal expenses
  • Cyber insurance
  • Buildings, contents and stock on an ‘all risks’ basis.

We’ve developed charity insurance that’s flexible enough to meet the needs of a wide variety of charitable organisations, including:

  • Charities
  • Not-for-profit organisations
  • Community groups and voluntary organisations
  • Community interest companies
  • and social enterprises.

As well as specialist covers, our charity insurance gives you expert guidance, advice and support designed especially for charities, including helplines for risk advice, legal services, Public Relations (PR) crisis assistance and counselling. We also provide a valuation service for no extra cost2. For those occupying older heritage type buildings, the sum insured will be tracked against the Ecclesiastical Heritage Index , more modern buildings will track against either GBCI or HRCI - helping to reduce the risk of under or over insurance.

And with 98% claims satisfaction3, you can be confident we’ll be ready to resolve claims as quickly and fairly as we can.
