As well as specialist covers, our insurance gives you expert guidance, advice and support designed especially for heritage organsiations, including helplines for risk advice, legal services, Public Relations (PR) crisis assistance and counselling. 

We also provide a valuation service at no extra charge2. For those occupying older heritage type buildings, the sum insured will be tracked against the Ecclesiastical Heritage Index , more modern buildings will track against either GBCI or HRCI - helping to reduce the risk of under or over insurance.

Grade I, II and II* Listed Building Insurance
Ecclesiastical is the UK’s leading insurer of Grade I listed properties and we are involved in insuring 10 of the UK’s world heritage sites. 

  • Listed buildings are registered as such to help us understand the historical and architectural significance of the property and to protect the buildings future.
  • As specialist insurers we can provide cover and listed building insurance for a Grade I, II or II* listed building in England and Wales or in Scotland and Northern Ireland we cover Category A, B or C listed properties.

Defining Grades
  • Grade I listed buildings are of the highest significant historical interest.
  • Grade II* listed buildings are extremely important buildings deemed of more than special interest.
  • Grade II Listed buildings are deemed to be of special interest. The majority of all listed buildings in the UK fall into this grade.

There are approximately 500,000 listed buildings in the UK.
