Ecclesiastical Group staff to cycle 337 miles to raise money for charity

  • 14 cyclists from across the Ecclesiastical Group will complete the journey 

  • The event will take place over three days and will raise money for a number of charities 

  • Starting at the home of SEIB in South Ockenden the group will travel north and finish at Lycetts’ head office in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

A team of 14 cyclists from across the Ecclesiastical Group are cycling 337 miles from South Ockenden to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in a bid to raise money for charity.  As well as the 337 miles covered the team will also climb almost 7500ft, the equivalent of cycling up Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike, along the way.

The peloton will include staff from across the Ecclesiastical Group of companies which has offices throughout the UK.

Starting at the SEIB Insurance Brokers head office, in South Ockenden, the team will take on the arduous journey over three days, stopping in Peterborough and York overnight, before reaching the finishing line the Lycetts head office in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Kevin Jones, Group Strategy Director, said: “Everyone involved is pedalling for a great cause, we have several experienced cyclists but also a number of people who are new to long-distance cycling for whom this will be a major challenge”.

The group will set of on Thursday 25 June and complete the ride on Saturday 27 June and you can keep up to date with their progress by following us on Twitter @ecclesnews.

In total there are six charities that will benefit from the ride these are Winston’s Wish, Age UK Gloucestershire, Little Havens Hospice, Motor Neurones Disease Association, The Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Meningitis now.
