PRESS RELEASE

National competition for church fundraising ideas launched

  • Ecclesiastical and Church Times team up to find UK’s best money-raising initiative

  • Winning place of worship to receive prize of £10,000

Five runner-up prizes of £2,000 each

26 June 2015

A national competition to find the very best ideas for fundraising by churches has been launched by leading church insurer Ecclesiastical in conjunction with Church Times.

Launched today (26th June), the competition is open to any Christian church, or Christian places of worship in the UK, and sets out to find ideas and initiatives that have helped churches to raise much needed money to support their activities or building works.

The winning idea will attract a top prize of £10,000, with five runner-up prizes of £2,000.

Michael Angell, Church Operations Director at Ecclesiastical said: “We understand it’s vital for churches to supplement their income with additional funds – and that money has to be raised by the hard work, enthusiasm and imaginative thinking of members of the church community. This competition is about celebrating those Christian faith communities who have been successful and sharing their fundraising ideas more widely.

“We want to hear about any creative fundraising idea; ingenious, innovative or simply incredible, please let us know what you’ve been doing to raise much-needed funds.”

Applications for the competition, which is open to any UK-based church of the Christian faith, is via a web form available at www.ecclesiastical.com/churchcomp.

Applications must be received by 23 October 2015 with winners being announced at an award ceremony in London on 25 November 2015.

Churches or other Christian places of worship can submit any fundraising idea from the last 12 months, or any they plan to use in the coming 12 months.

Entries for the Ecclesiastical/Church Times Church Fundraising Idea of the Year 2015 Competition are being accepted now.
