Expiry of Temporary Cover Enhancements (May 2021)

28 May 2021

With the easing of national restrictions as we progress through the key steps of the UK Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, it’s time for us to review the temporary cover enhancements that we have provided at various stages throughout the pandemic, which expire at the end of May.

We were glad to be able to respond swiftly when needed in order to help brokers and customers navigate a period of uncertainty, and we want now to provide clarity on how our cover will respond moving forward.

With lockdown measures lifting, the restrictions imposed on travel and businesses that merited the temporary cover enhancements have been eased to an extent that generally means they are no longer necessary. As no further extension to the temporary cover enhancements is needed, they will expire on 31/5/21.

However, in recognition of the long-term change in working patterns brought about by the pandemic we are retaining the working from home enhancement indefinitely and will permanently embed this cover into customers’ policies (where not already included) in due course, at no additional charge.

A summary of what this means for the enhancements is shown below.

Commercial policies

1) Employees working from home.
The automatic temporary cover enhancement applied in respect of Employees working from home, covering contents taken to an employee’s home, will be permanently added to all of our policies (at no additional charge).

Where not already insured, this extension will continue to be applied via the Letter of Intent on our website until the cover has been embedded into the customer’s policy- see full details of this change

2) Premises that are temporarily closed / temporarily unoccupied solely due to the lockdown.
The dispensations applied to properties temporarily closed or temporarily unoccupied will cease after 31/5/21, at which point all original policy terms and conditions will come into immediate effect.

Art & Private Client policies

The automatic cover enhancements made to Art & Private client policies will cease after 31/5/21, at which point all original policy terms and conditions will come into immediate effect - see full details of this change
