About the charity
Carers UK provides expert advice, information and support, including running the only national helpline for carers and their families. Their tenacious campaigners connect carers, they believe that no one has to care alone. They’re committed to finding new ways to reach and support carers, using innovation and their know-how to develop useful products, spreading the message that technology can play its part in making life better for carers.
Looking after someone can be tough, and Carers UK aims to combat this by listening, giving expert information and advice that’s tailored to each individual’s situation, championing their rights and supporting carers in finding new ways to manage at home, at work, or wherever they are.
Together we’re helping
Every day 6,000 people become carers in the UK. Many don’t know how or where to get help. It can be frightening and very lonely. For some it’s sudden: someone you love is taken ill or has an accident, your child is born with a disability. For others, caring creeps up unnoticed: your parents can’t manage on their own any longer, your partner’s health gets gradually worse.
Carers UK understands that caring is such an important part of life. It’s simply part of being human. Carers are holding families together, enabling loved ones to get the most out of life, making an enormous contribution to society and saving the economy billions of pounds. Yet many are stretched to the limit – juggling care with work and family life, or even struggling with poor health themselves, often finding it difficult to make ends meet if caring means they’re unable to work or their working hours have had to be reduced.
Caring will affect all of us at some point in our lives and the £1,000 donation from Ecclesiastical will help Carers UK to be there for when that happens.
