About the charity

The Crystal Palace Dinosaurs are a Grade I Listed series of sculptures in Crystal Palace Park in London. The Friends group’s main objective is the conservation of the sculptures, but also research and promotion of the attraction.

Together we’re helping

The funding will be used to help reinstate the bridge to Dinosaur Islands – a practical project with much wider impacts. The bridge was removed several years ago, making it difficult to do conservation work on the sculptures, maintenance work on the grounds, and to bring people up close to the sculptures. The site really suffered, and the sculptures are now at serious risk.

By preserving these Grade I heritage assets and building an educational engagement programme around them, they can convey excitement about key ideas in natural science for generations to come. They have crowdfunded a new, secure bridge to build imaginative bridges to the past, and the £1,000 donation from Ecclesiastical helps it happen. This will be a springboard for further funding for engagement and conservation.

With the new bridge in place, up to 1,200 people a year will be able to see the sculptures up close and conservation work and maintenance can be improved.
