About the charity
St Lawrence Charitable Fund was set up over 30 years ago to assist some of the most disadvantaged individuals and families living in or near the London Borough of Bexley who are in need of urgent financial support.
They often find that families who have been provided with accommodation go without basic items which most of us consider essential – carpets, furniture, beds, washing machines, fridges, freezers, and cookers. St Lawrence Charitable Fund helps a wide range of beneficiaries at a critical juncture in their lives, when assistance is most often not available from any other source. Requests for help come from Bexley Social Services including their Mental Health Team, NHS trusts, Mental Health charities and individuals on behalf of the person in need.
Together we’re helping
Many of the St Lawrence Charitable Fund grants enable families to give their children a basic level of care – beds, clean washing, home cooked meals and in some cases even school uniforms, special educational equipment and items to pursue a chosen educational or vocational course. This gives the children a better start, making it easier for them to go to school or college, encouraging them to focus on their studies.
St Lawrence Charitable Fund helped 99 families in the last financial year with over £21,000 of support. The £1,000 donation from Ecclesiastical will help them to continue their vital work.
