Charity risk barometer
Our Charity Risk Barometer 2019 uncovers key challenges facing charities, helps you capitalise on opportunities and reap major rewards.
A diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a truly devastating one as there are currently no effective targeted treatments for the aggressive form of this disease (that Talan had). Talan’s Trust are determined to help change this. Through Talan's Trust we wish to raise awareness of RMS and other childhood cancers and raise money for research into the disease Talan had.
We couldn’t believe it when we won £1000 at Christmas. We are a small charity that was founded in November 2017 in memory of my son Talan Penny, who died in May of a rare childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma, he was 19 and had his whole life ahead of him.
In the first instance we committed to help support The Chris Lucas Trust who fund a full time researcher into finding an ultimate cure for rhabdomyosarcoma at the Institute of Cancer Research, Royal Marsden in Sutton, Surrey, And in our first year we were thrilled to present Lynne Lucas with a cheque for £30,000
We are currently looking to start a bereavement service for siblings of children who have died from childhood cancer but in the 18 to 25 year old age range. This would be the first of its kind in the U.K. as older children are often overlooked. Initially to be based in Cornwall, if successful the service would extend to Devon and then hopefully further afield. Winning this money will enable us to make this happen sooner, we cannot thank Ecclesiastical and all our followers enough for all they do.
