About the charity
Thurrock Foodbank serves the borough of Thurrock helping those who are struggling to feed themselves.
What our donation will help to fund
This kind donation will help us update our existing equipment. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have fed 2421 people across Thurrock 1047 of which have been children. This is 61% up on the same period last year. As a result, we have needed to invest in additional weighing scales (all food has to be weighed in and out), three additional flatbed trolleys to load and unload donations from our van and take into the warehouse.
We are also hoping to purchase some new workwear (Hi-Viz vests/ polo shirts) for our volunteers. Since this Pandemic started, we have had a core group of volunteers that have stayed committed to us packing food parcels and stacking shelves for us. Also, our van driver and mate who have collected and delivered tonnes of food each week.
Like most businesses, Thurrock Foodbank has had to adapt and operate in line with the restrictions that are in place, whilst continuing to provide a service for clients.
Together we’re helping
This funding will help provide a legacy that will enable us to maintain the increased demand. We are currently feeding up to 200 people per week, which is 61% up on the same period last year.
Thank you so much for awarding us £1000 Movement for Good award - this is very much appreciated.
