Tim Maxted

Chairman and Chief Executive of Berkeley Insurance Group

About Tim

Tim is Chairman and Chief Executive of Berkeley Insurance Group, one of the UK’s largest privately owned Chartered Insurance Brokers.

He has significant experience of the charity world having served as a trustee and on advisory boards at both local and national levels. These include: The Prince’s Trust, Victim Support, The University of Leicester, the Children’s Hospital Appeal, LOROS Hospice and also a charitable trust that he co-founded. These roles all demonstrate Tim’s enthusiasm and commitment to the charitable and voluntary sector.
Tim was appointed by HM The Queen as High Sheriff of Leicestershire, completing this annual appointment in April 2018.  In this role he was heavily involved in many of the charities within Leicestershire through official and informal visits and also by raising funds. This gave him a unique perspective on the operation of a wide range of charitable and voluntary organisations.
By championing innovation, the Movement for Good awards give charities the freedom to bring new ideas to life; ideas of value that otherwise might not happen. They allow charities to take a risk and push plans forward in the knowledge that funding is secure. Of course any risk taken needs to be a calculated one – especially in the charity sector and assessing those risks will be a key element of the judging process – but seeing the impact of the projects that will now happen will be fantastic.
