As we publish our annual results it is time to reflect. Ecclesiastical UK has delivered another strong year, achieving sustainable growth of around 5% while continuing to perform well in a challenging market. This reflects our disciplined approach, specialist expertise, and the strength of the longstanding relationships we hold with customers and brokers who rely on us for consistently high service.
I am really proud of the team, culture and purpose that delivers this and the deeper story of this year lies not only in the figures but in the impact our people have made for customers, brokers, communities and the many good causes we support. Every day, colleagues bring expertise, empathy and commitment to their work - whether supporting a broker, helping a customer through a claim, delivering specialist risk advice, or behind the scenes. Their efforts are driven by a simple principle: the more we grow, the more good we can do.
As we share our results I have been reflecting on what makes us fortunate to enjoy the confidence and support of our customers and broker partners.
Doing the right thing over the long-term
Our approach is clear and proven: disciplined growth, strong customer and broker partnerships and a long-term mindset. We are well positioned to continue growing, with momentum across our much valued and established markets, and measured expansion in Care, Leisure, Real Estate and increased Schemes business. This targeted growth keeps us responsive to broker demand, maintains long-term profitability, and enables us to support more customers in the specialist markets we know best.
We recognise our results in 2025 were supported by unusually benign weather and lower large losses, and we remain acutely aware of the inherent volatility we face on behalf of our customers, covering as we do buildings and organisations of significant scale and importance. It is another reason why we think and act for the long-term.
Expertise that makes a difference
Our specialist insurance requires deep, often unique knowledge, supported by teams who understand the realities of both historic and modern buildings, and the organisations and businesses they serve.
We bring together underwriting, risk and claims specialists who work closely with brokers to combine technical expertise with practical, preventative risk management. From detailed risk surveys to creative solutions, such as safely modernising and developing spaces without harming heritage assets, our approach helps customers manage and minimise risk confidently.
This is reinforced by our award-winning claims service and market-leading customer satisfaction: 99% for risk management and valuations, and 95% for claims1. We were proud to be awarded the Gracechurch Service Quality Marque for claims, for the fifth consecutive year, retained our top position in Fairer Finance home insurance category for the 22nd time, achieved Which? Best Buy status for buildings and contents for the third consecutive year, and won the 2025 BIA risk and resilience award.
Growth that enables impact
Our growth is not targeted just for its own sake, it has real purpose. As part of the Benefact Group, all available profits are used as a force for good. This year the Ecclesiastical Insurance Office plc donated £28m to good causes, including £24m to our charitable owner, Benefact Trust Limited. That’s more than £275m since 2014. Knowing that our work directly enables this impact is a source of genuine pride.
Thank you
To all those that have supported us as customers, partners and colleagues in the past year, thank you for being a part of our purpose and mission - to protect important organisations, and to continue to support good causes.
We enter our next phase of growth from a privileged position of strength: engaged customers, trusted broker relationships, and a clear appetite to expand thoughtfully in markets where we can make the greatest difference. By growing sustainably, we want to protect more customers, deliver outstanding service, and increase the support we provide to good causes.
Better business. Better lives.
