Dave Carey appointed as Managing Director of Intermediary

Ecclesiastical Insurance has appointed Dave Carey as its new Managing Director of its Intermediary business, to join in February 2025.

Dave joins from Allianz, where he has been Managing Director of Mid Corporate UK for the past year and a half. He replaces Adrian Saunders, who retired earlier this year after almost a decade leading the Intermediary business at Ecclesiastical.

Dave brings a wealth of experience to the specialist insurer. He spent over 20 years at Zurich, including being responsible for UK Commercial Regions, and more recently he led the mid-market and speciality lines business at Aviva before joining Allianz in early 2023.

Ecclesiastical is pursuing ambitious growth targets, both in its existing sectors and in new niches, as it looks to double the size of its business over the next few years. The specialist insurer is also making significant investments in new products and propositions, helping to build its capability and reach.

Richard Coleman said Dave’s appointment was a significant boost for the business:

“I am delighted we have appointed Dave as our new MD of Intermediary. He brings a great track record and wide-ranging experience to this role, which is crucial in helping us to achieve our growth targets. I know Dave is as motivated as we are by our mission to double our contribution to good causes.”

Richard Coleman, Ecclesiastical UK Managing Director

“I am thrilled to be joining Ecclesiastical. The opportunity to work with Richard and the team to help deliver on its ambitious growth targets instantly appealed. When combined with Ecclesiastical’s raison d’être to give profits to good causes, the opportunity was compelling. I look forward to making a positive contribution.”
