Risk management Desktop valuations

Commercial desktop risk review and valuation

Risk management Desktop valuations
We provide a comprehensive desktop risk assessment and valuation service for eligible customers using digital mapping and data imagery.

This bespoke technical service uses the latest mapping software from independent sources to support the assessment. The software provides the most up-to-date information and the best data available for professional use.

Depending on your eligibility, you may qualify for both a risk review and valuation, or for a risk review alone. Our surveyor will clarify this with you during your consultation.

Where customers qualify for a building valuation, your surveyor will combine the mapping software with our extensive knowledge of the rebuilding costs for various construction types.

The survey process

What you will need:

  • The review will be completed using Microsoft Teams, and you should be located at the premises being reviewed.
  • You will need a portable device capable of supporting a Teams video call, where possible.

The video survey will include questions on a range of risk matters, including occupation and use of premises, building construction and services, fire, security, and health and safety arrangements, as appropriate to the insurance cover being provided.

Our surveyor may ask you to support the review with a video tour of the property, focusing on key risk areas such as plant rooms, fire protection, and security arrangements.

We will not ask you to walk around with your cameras switched on or otherwise put yourself at risk. Once you have arrived at an area and are in a safe position, you can activate your cameras.

Where properties qualify for building valuation, additional questions may be asked to supplement the information available from digital mapping and data imagery, including your VAT status, details of any architectural features, basements, and attic floors.

Using the data mapping software, imagery, and details given by you, we calculate an estimated rebuilding sum insured.

We will then produce a report highlighting any risks identified during our discussions and appropriate measures to address these. The report will also contain our valuation advice, where one has been completed.
