About James

Bringing over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, James joined Ecclesiastical in 2017 from Chubb, where he was Vice President, Personal Risk Services with responsibility for their North American Ultra HNW clients in the UK and Europe.

Before that, he was Vice President, Underwriting Manager for Ace Syndicate 2488 at Lloyd’s, where he was responsible for setting up their new HNW division. He also has Lloyd’s experience with Torus Syndicate 1301 and in the company market with AXA Art insurance.

James gained the first ever Renaissance PhD from the Royal College of Art and the Victoria & Albert Museum. He is the author of the book, ‘The Renaissance Palace in Florence: Magnificence and Splendour in Fifteenth-Century Italy’.

He has been a research consultant for the BBC and an Associate Lecturer at the University of the Arts, London. He has won three research awards and scholarships in the UK, Italy, and the US.

As well as presenting at international conferences and lecturing extensively in the UK, Europe, and the US, he is a speaker for several leading arts societies, including The Art Fund and The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS).

Away from insurance, James enjoys travel, golf, and supporting his beloved Fulham Football Club.
