Home insurance Accidental Damage

Accidental damage cover

Home insurance Accidental Damage
Accidents can happen at any time, so it’s important to make sure you have the right cover to suit your needs.

Accidental damage is a common type of claim that protects against damage resulting from everyday household accidents like breakages and spillages. Adding it to your policy offers wider cover and extra peace of mind.

Our home insurance policy includes some accidental damage cover as standard. For example, breakage of mirrors, ceramic hobs and bathroom fittings. Accidental damage cover for your buildings and contents is an optional extra.

Buildings insurance

Adding accidental damage to your buildings insurance can cover you for sudden and unexpected damage to the structure of your home. This covers:

  • DIY accidents
  • Putting your foot through the ceiling while accessing the loft.

Contents insurance

Adding accidental damage to your contents covers you for:

  • Spilling a drink on the sofa
  • Knocking a vase over
  • Dropping a picture frame.

What’s not covered?

  • Wear and tear
  • Gradual damage that naturally occurs over time.
  • Damage caused by vermin.

Please remember that policies can vary depending on the level of cover you choose. You should always read the details to see what is and isn’t included.

Our Home Insurance Product Information Document gives an overview of our policy.

If you have any questions or would like to add accidental damage to your policy, please call us on 0345 777 3322.
