You're choosing the most trusted home insurance, with additional cover and discounts available to church workers and volunteers.

Why choose Ecclesiastical?

Home emergency and legal expenses cover is included as standard.

No renewal fees or admin charges for changes to your policy.

Claim with confidence – in 2024, 96% of customers were satisfied with our service.

We’ve been connected with the church since 1887.

Discounts for clergy if you are in a higher-risk area and paid a Church of England stipend (minimum premiums apply).

Enhanced home contents cover for church workers

Up to £750,000 buildings cover and £75,000 of contents cover.

Up to £3,500 for contents away from home.

24-hour home emergency assistance up to £1,000 (included as standard).

Legal expenses (included as standard).

Occupiers and personal liability insurance for church meetings held in your home.

Up to £1,000 for items belonging to the church whilst in your home.

What's not covered

Wear and tear – this naturally happens over time and is not covered by most insurance policies.

Mechanical breakdown of items over time is also not covered.

Faulty work by a tradesperson.

Matching pairs or sets

We will pay 50% of the cost of replacing undamaged items which are covered by your policy that form part of a pair or a set (see policy for full details)

Optional extras

  • Accidental damage cover
  • Items or collections worth more than £3,500 – you must let us know what these are.
  • Bikes worth more than £750 – please let us know if you’d like us to cover these.

Renewing your home insurance

We will send you a renewal pack within 21 days of your renewal date. It will have details of your renewal premium, any changes to the policy wording and cover, and a reminder of what you have told us, so you can update us if anything has changed.

If you pay by Direct Debit, your policy will auto-renew at the end of the policy term, giving you the peace of mind of continued cover. When this happens your monthly payments will continue according to a revised payment schedule reflecting your renewal premium.

You can opt out of auto-renewal at any time by calling us on 0345 777 3322, emailing household@ecclesiastical.com or using the website form.

If you opt out, you will need to contact us before your renewal date if you wish to renew your policy. Otherwise, your cover will end when your existing policy expires leaving you with no insurance.

If you pay any other way, please note, the policy will not auto-renew. You will need to contact us if you wish to renew your insurance.

Please note that in rare cases, due to a change in risk or circumstances, we may be unable to offer renewal. We will let you know if this is the case.

Please note - calls to 03 numbers are usually charged at no more than the local rate.
